When do you call the shots?
Whether you are an employee, head of household or owner of a business, the concept of calling the shots come with lots of responsiblity, risk and accountability. As a head of household or business owner, you are responsible for making sure you make wise decisions, you maintain calm poise in stressful situations, and seek what is best for the household or business.
As an employee, are you really calling the shots or are you just trying to influence the shot caller to approve your idea?
In the small business community, the owner tends to call the shots consciously while unconsciously wanting employees to think strategically despite ambiguity. It’s a matter of trust. Owners must have the ability to distinguish which employees want to be held accountable and responsible for “calling the shots.”
Think for a minute that maybe some employees who are heads of households might be tired of “calling the shots.” And there’s nothing right or wrong about it, it just IS.
