Where has the practice of honor gone?
A good friend of mine and I talked about honor about a year ago and I didn’t really grasp the concept well. It felt like the word was bound to obedience.
As I untangled my own enmeshed definition I found connection to a deeper meaning with two simple questions.
- What can I do to honor my parents?
- Why would honoring my parents matter?
Fortunately for me, both of my parents are still alive so honoring them is still an opportunity.
What does honoring them look like?
It’s to prize highly! It’s to respect highly! It’s to follow willingly!
When we honor we prosper, we stabilize, we experience fellowship, we open our hearts, we expand our compassion, we promise practice and we live a life that is more enjoyable.
