Scarcity Marketing

August 10, 2018 By John N. Robinson Leave a Comment

It just hit me while on a call with my cousin Brian. I was telling him about the book Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend. The intention of the book is to help people with “when to say yes, how to say no to take control of your life.”

What about for the people who have control of their life?

What about for the people who know when to say yes?

What about for the people who know when to say no?

What if it read more like….

“when to say HELL yes, how to say HELL NO to get a little better at getting the life you want…”

Maybe it’s me but I notice authors marketing with the scarcity approach.

This idea that you don’t possess any of what they are teaching at all.

This idea that you are at rock bottom.

Maybe it should be called the rock bottom marketing approach. 😉

Going forward, I will pay more attention to this approach. I would rather start reading someone’s work with the energy that I am and I have than I don’t have….

Turn the – to a +…

July 27, 2018 By John N. Robinson Leave a Comment

After getting off a call with Jon Loomer I graded myself a check minus.

Our call was continuously disrupted by some household distractions.

After hanging up I felt defeated even though I woke up at 4:30 am, did an hours worth of work, 50-minute workout and connected with my cousin for our standing 30-minute weekly call. All of this before 8:00 am!!!

So back to feeling defeated. I couldn’t understand why it bothered me so, that I couldn’t think about the other accomplishments of the day until I asked myself “how can I turn this minus into a plus?”

Quickly I remembered that a cool opportunity, that I hadn’t shared with Jon, should be shared. I called Jon and told him and he gave me a pleasantly happy response.

So now I felt like I turned my frown upside down. The lesson I learned today that it’s never too late to turn your minus into a plus.

I’m not a band-aid guy…

July 16, 2018 By John N. Robinson Leave a Comment

When is it a good time to use a band-aid?

Is it when you don’t want to see the pain anymore?

Is it when you want the healing to speed up?

Or is it when you want to hide seeing the progress?

When thinking about when to start doing something, get to the point you want to make…

If you want to avoid the pain then wait…

or if you want to SEE progress then put it into the world today..

Know your point and go after it….

…….FYI — I am not a band-aid guy…

How Dare You….

July 12, 2018 By John N. Robinson Leave a Comment

Seth Godin just dropped some knowledge that I needed today.

If you are anything like me, it’s a bit frustrating when people act irrationally and selfishly.

This behavior is widespread and no it’s not Millennials only.

Everyone exhibits a bit of childish and selfish behavior.

The key is how we handle our own behaviors and how we handle those we come into contact who act out.

In the blog Seth published today, his phrase of “How Dare You…” is empowering.

It states that “I am taking a stand” and “I am the kind of person who does something about it.”

How dare you is a position of “we aren’t the kind of people who act this way.”

If you want to move from a dramatic mindset to an empowering mindset then use the power of “How dare you!”

I dare you!!!  I double dog dare you!!!!!

What’s working at 5:30 am on a Tuesday…

July 10, 2018 By John N. Robinson Leave a Comment

I noticed that spiders are making webs…

People, who may be homeless, are collecting cans…

People are exercising….

People are driving…

Sprinklers are watering lawns…

Dogs are walking, with owners…

Garbage trucks are on their routes…

Construction people are doing building stuff…

Bus drivers are driving…

Landscapers are doing their jobs…

Homeless people are gathering their belongings…

Washing machines are washing…

Razors are taking away unwanted hair….

All in all, some of us believe that the homeless are lazy, the minimum wage people are lazy and the undocumented workers are lazy….

…. BUT ARE THEY???????
